Free Rennlist Member Websites Faced with Overwhelming Reactions

Portsmouth, New Hampshire - 7/18/99 - The reaction to the free Rennlist Websites has been great - especially for a weekend announcement! Over 2,000 of you have surfed on in at http://members.rennlist.org/ in 24 hours to see what's up with these sites... And in looking at some of the new sites - one thing hit us pretty quickly - Rennlist has some really GOOD page designers out there!!

In response to the overwhelming success of the RennList Member Websites, we are introducing a monthly competition for the Best Rennlist Members Page. You can all vote on the site you like the best (insert voting link here) and each month, a new Rennlist Member Website is announced. The Monthly winner gets a windshield sticker for their car, their website is highlighted with a link on the main Rennlist web page, they get to display a Winners Graphic for their site, and they received a Rennlist Certificate suitable for framing.

Along with the overwhelming interest in the member sites, there have been a lot of questions and we will try to answer many of the most commonly asked ones below.

Q: What's involved in creating a site?

A: I updated the Help File which is pretty straight forward. Just click on the link at http://members.rennlist.org/ that says "how do I do this?". Yes, it is really easy!

Q: Do I have to have a membership card in my possession to register my site?

A: No, if you do not have your card, you soon will. Just go ahead and register/upload your Rennlist website!! If you are not a member yet - just click on the link "Don't have a Rennlist Membership Card yet? - Join Here!" which takes you to http://140.239.85.201/application.htm and fill in the on-line form. It's pretty painless. Also - once you register your site - you can *immediately* start uploading your Rennlist Web Site - there is no waiting period at all, it's instantaneous.

Q: Are these really free sites for Rennlist Members? Free sites usually involve some sort of advertising, pop up windows, etc. on the actual sites?

A: I *hate* pop-up windows, watermarks, and mandatory banners that appear out of no where. These are intrusive, disruptive and not necessary. Therefore, Rennlist Members sites are free of that traditional advertising that coincides with free websites. The programming of this technology/Rennlist Site is my simple way of saying "Thanks" to all our Members and Sponsors for their support. If you would like to use a Rennlist Banner - fell free to rip one off at http://www.rennlist.org/bannerlink.htm and use it.

Q: Can everyone on the Internet get to my site?

A: Yes. These are on the 'Net in real time. Your URL is just like any Web URL and can be shared, e-mailed and entered into search engines like Yahoo, AltaVista, Hot Bots, etc. For example, my web page is at http://members.rennlist.org/john

Q: If I get lost or need help, who can help me out?

A: That would be our List Master, John Dunkle. While I won't do your actual web design (well, I can be bribed), I'll help you if you get *stuck* and hopelessly lost.
