RennList Clarifies its Rules on Commercial Posting

Portsmouth, New Hampshire - 11/08/1999 – For the benefit of its members and subscribers who may represent a commercial endeavor RennList.com clarified its stance on Commercial Postings. RennList.com does not prohibit the posting of Commercial related e-mails on its various mailing lists; however, we insist that vendors abide by the following rules.

  • RennList will accept occasional commercial postings (not more than twice per month) to the general lists providing that they are short (25 lines or less).

  • 'Commercial' postings are defined as those made by vendors with the intent to sell or promote the sale of goods or services.

  • RennList will also accept non-commercial "for sale" or "wanted" postings to all lists, providing that these postings are not overly repetitive. "Repetitive" means posting items for sale more than twice a week or more than four times in one month. These "for sale" or "wanted" posts should be limited to 40 lines or less.

These rules have worked well for RennList.com, in the past, when the site was frequented by less than ½ of its current membership and subscribers; however, due to increasing numbers more and more commercial vendors are taking advantage of these rules. Therefore, the following additional rules have been implemented.

  • If you post as a commercial vendor/business more then twice per month - you will be asked to take a three-week "vacation" from Rennlist. If you are unable to accept this vacation, RennList will help you "go on vacation" for that time period.

  • If you violate this rule, after coming back from your "vacation", a second time - you will get an invoice from Rennlist for $0.15 per e-mail address from every list that received you post. Currently, that means you might get an invoice for over $1,800 should you post to just three of the larger lists. Until that invoice paid in full - you will be banned from Rennlist.

  • If you post as a "Private Individual", but really are running a business - then you should consider yourself a "Commercial Vendor" and will be guided by the rules found above.

  • If you are a private individual - and these parts are from your private collection/stash - please remember the guidelines as above.

RennList has been forced to enlist and enforce these rules as too many too often are trying to take advantage of these forums, and therefore, we ask that we all try to keep these guidelines in mind.
